Gyeonggi Province-Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, Pyeongtaek Port Guide Ship to Depart in 2022

□ Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority announced that they will resume operations of the Pyeongtaek Port guide ship, which was suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19, starting in June with enhanced quarantine and safety measures in line with the government's gradual recovery of daily life.

❍ The Pyeongtaek Port Guide Boat Project is a project that vividly promotes the operational status, competitiveness, and vision of Pyeongtaek Port in Gyeonggi Province to domestic and international customers by boarding a guide boat and experiencing the port site.

❍ To prevent the spread of COVID-19, safety measures such as quarantine and disinfection before and after each departure have been strengthened, and the ship will operate twice a day from Monday to Friday. Those eligible to board include 10 or more people involved in attracting domestic and foreign investment, shipping, port, and logistics companies, economic organizations, and students.

❍ Pyeongtaek Port was selected as one of the "Pyeongtaek 8 Scenic Spots" by Pyeongtaek City in May of this year through a vote by citizens. This year, it plans to focus on introducing the special features of the port as a convergence of industry, tourism, and convergence, providing new strength and courage to port customers who are tired from COVID-19.

❍ The new ship introduced to the port guide ship business this year is the New Family, with a gross tonnage of 40 tons and a maximum capacity of 46 passengers. Woojoo Marine Leisure was selected as the ship leaser and operator through a public bidding process.

❍ Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority have been making various efforts and projects to revitalize the port and develop the local economy, such as developing the port hinterland complex and increasing cargo volume through port marketing. Thanks to these efforts, Pyeongtaek Port recorded the highest container cargo volume growth rate (18.1%) among all trade ports in the country last year.
