Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority takes the lead in creating a clean Gyeonggi sea

Pyeongtaek City and other related organizations launch Gyeonggi Sea Together (Pyeongtaek Port coastal cleanup) activities

□ Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority (hereinafter referred to as the “Corporation”), together with related organizations such as Gyeonggi Province, Pyeongtaek City, and Pyeongtaek Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, conducted a coastal cleanup activity near the western wharf of Pyeongtaek Port on the 24th to create a clean Gyeonggi sea.

○ Gyeonggi Sea Together (海) refers to environmental cleanup activities along the coast, such as regular garbage collection, at designated coastal areas by each institution in cooperation with Gyeonggi Province, coastal cities, and public institutions in the province, to preserve the marine environment within Gyeonggi Province.

○ President Seok-gu Kim of the Corporation directly participated in the coastal cleanup activity, encouraged the employees of the Corporation and related organizations who participated in the cleanup activity, and expressed his gratitude to the employees of the organizations who participated. He said, “We will not stop at one-time environmental cleanup activities, but will organically cooperate with related organizations such as Gyeonggi Province and Pyeongtaek City to solve social and environmental problems, and expand the cleanup activity area not only along the coast but also to areas near the business sites managed and operated by the Corporation, and plan to actively fulfill the social and environmental role of ESG in the public sector.”

○ The fishing community that participated on this day expressed gratitude to the public institutions that participated, such as Pyeongtaek City and Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, for taking the lead in solving environmental problems such as marine debris, and expressed their will to actively participate in events of public institutions located in Pyeongtaek City in the future.

○ Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province, 5 cities along the west coast, and 11 public institutions under Gyeonggi Province signed a business agreement on February 28 to jointly recognize the need to solve the marine debris problem to create a clean Gyeonggi sea and to jointly participate in voluntary coastal cleaning activities. In addition, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited the site of the Gyeonggi Clean-up Ship (marine debris cleaning ship) in September 2022 to personally inspect it and discussed the seriousness of the marine debris problem and the need to solve it.
