Overview

Definition of Port Hinterland

Hinterland? Hinterland refers to a functional region that is connected via transportation to the port and is developed purposefully to accommodate handling of arriving cargos and loading/unloading operations. This area serves to link the port to a number of operating locations within the area.
Definition of Hinterland as per Article 43, the Harbor Act "Hinterland shall be defined as a region that is designated and developed within the harbor premises and port district of a trade port, to help increase the added value of the port concerned, to promote the port-rel ated industrial operations, and to contribute to the convenience of port users, as clusters of support systems and harbor waterfront facilities are provided and promoted within the region."
