Background of Incentive System Implementation

Offers cargo attraction incentives to container shipping companies and/or other relevant parties whose vessels are using the Port of Pyeongtaek to help expand the clientele and improve the port’s competitive pricing as well as to help expand the use of the port and attract new cargo consignments.

Beneficiary

  • Shipping companies (including car ferries) with history of container handling
  • Forwarders with history of attracting LCL cargo
  • Warehouse companies with history of LCL cargo handling

Pay 40,000 KRW per 1TEU of LCL cargo attracting and handling by the current beneficiaries (limited to shippers handling 5TEU or above) (limited to forwarder MB/L)

Based on annual navigation expense occupancy ratio of the above beneficiaries (0.1 billion KRW per semester)

New navigations in 2009

  • - 70 million KRW: ocean channels
  • - 50 million KRW: Southeast Asian channels
  • - 30 million KRW: neighborhood waters (China, Japan)

Regulations applied for all parties concerned
  • - No more than 50% of the budget allocated in each criteria shall be paid to a single company.
  • - Any residual amounts generated in each criteria shall be transferred to the area with budget shortage. (Priority: Group 3, Group 5, and Group 4, in this order)

  • - Shippers not operating (or suspending business) on the date of incentive payment shall be excluded from payment. However, shippers that have resumed business in 2009, with outstanding contribution to the Port of Pyeongtaek, shall be eligible for Group 1 payment. (To be paid in 3 months after the date of resumption.)
